Hugs Ceramics is dedicated to bringing art, whimsy, and creativity to our community. Through creating handmade pottery & facilitating clay exploration, Hugs Ceramics' mission is to provide a positive, supportive, and safe space for all people to express themselves with clay!

Katie Thomson (she/her)

Owner/Potter/Instructor

Katie Thomson is originally from Tucson, Arizona but grew up in Southern Maryland. She moved to New Jersey in 2017 and absolutely loves it! Katie is a self taught potter who wants to share her knowledge, passion, and love for clay. Her creations include functional pottery forms such as mugs, cups, bowls, & vases. She is excited to be finally sharing her love for clay through teaching and is eager to strengthen her skills along side her students. Katie hopes to explore sculptural work as well as painting with underglazes.

Aaron Thomson (he/him)

Mr. Hugs Ceramics

Aaron Thomson was born and raised in the Cherry Hill, New Jersey area. He attended Virginia Technical Institute and received a Bachelor's in Mining and Mineral Engineering. By day, he works for the EPA as an Environmental Engineer. By night, he IS Mr. Hugs Ceramics!

Katie says that Aaron is the reason why she started Hugs Ceramics. He believed in her and told her to follow her dreams of making pottery & sharing it with others. You'll often find Aaron at Katie's art/craft shows, farmers markets, and other events. Aaron has learned a lot about pottery since the start of Hugs Ceramics. If you have questions about the pottery process, he can definitely answer them!
